Salisbury Plain is a chalk plateau in central southern England covering 300 square miles, (roughly the size of the Isle of Wight) and is owned mainly by the MOD and used extensively for Military training. The plain is famous for its rich archaeology, including Stonehenge and more recently the Amesbury Archer. Access to Salisbury Plain is regulated by Military Byelaws. This is my journal of the stuff you can see (If you look hard enough).
This training version of the Warthog all Terrain Vehicle is rarely seen on the plain except during pre-deployment exercises. Mostly used in Afghanistan the Warthog is a 22-ton tracked armoured vehicle whose off-road ability allows it to frequently outflank the fleet-footed Taliban. It can carry up to a dozen soldiers and replaces the BAE Systems built Viking which is being withdrawn from service after almost a quarter of the fleet was destroyed by Taliban IED's.
